The Piece

A banyan opened to fill an arch. The canopy is dense with individually cut leaves, and below it the aerial roots drop in open work you can see straight through. A sun medallion sits high among the branches inside a raised ring, and a second sun rises at the foot of the trunk with its rays spreading into the roots. A peacock feather curls in at each lower corner. Underneath it all, a tapered plinth carries one line on a charcoal band.

A tree is the oldest way of thanking someone for something that grew slowly.

Craftsmanship

Real metal, formed over the sculpted shape rather than cast, so every leaf keeps its edge and the fine root work stays open instead of filling in. The metal is bonded to the surface, not painted, so it will not chip, flake or peel. Raised gold, buffed back by hand, against a blackened ground: the same contrast that makes carved temple wood read at a distance.

Built to last

UV-protected and weather-treated after finishing. It holds its colour in direct sun and through the monsoon, so a verandah table or a sunlit window ledge is as safe as an indoor shelf. No fading, no rust bleed, no repainting.

Personalisation

The line across the plinth is yours. It is shown reading With Gratitude, and many people keep exactly that. It takes a name instead, or a date, or a few words of your own. Written in any language, English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali. The lettering is set to fit what you send rather than your words cut to fit the band. Send the spelling exactly as you want it and a design preview comes back by email before anything is made.

Dimensions and weights are approximate. Each piece is made and finished by hand, so small variations are normal.

On the table

The plinth is a tapered wedge, wide at the floor and finished on all four sides, so the tree stands square without a stand or a prop. A tabletop piece is seen from behind as often as from the front, so the back is finished too.

Where it works

On a study desk, a hall console, a bedside table, a mandir shelf. It holds a dark surface particularly well, where the blackened ground disappears and only the gold canopy is left.

Gifting

A quiet gift. A tree with a line of your own across the plinth says thank you for something that took years, which is difficult to put in a card. Works well for a retirement, a milestone birthday, a housewarming, and for parents and teachers.

Care

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. No metal polish or scouring, the dark ground is meant to stay dark.
