The Design

A maple leaf rendered at full size, veins branching out from a central stem and the edges lobed exactly as the real thing. Laid on a shelf or a console it looks like something picked up in autumn and kept, which is precisely the intention.

Craftsmanship

Every piece is made by electroforming. A maple leaf is sculpted first, then metal is grown over that sculpted core layer by layer until the whole leaf exists in solid metal, veins and lobed edges included. Artisans in India antique it by hand at the end, so the darkening collects in the low points while the raised ridges stay light and the shape reads clearly from across a room. Small differences between one tray and the next are part of the process rather than a flaw.
