The Shree Yantra

The yantra sits at the top of the arch: nine interlocking triangles, a ring of lotus petals around them, and the square bhupura with its four gates enclosing the whole thing. Below it a kalash overflows, coins spilling down the belly of the pot and pooling on the platform, mango leaves fanning from the mouth. Lakshmi's charan face into the room from either side of the flame, the way they are drawn at the door on Diwali night. One tea light sits at the centre front, so the light falls up across the coins and into the yantra.

Craftsmanship

Real metal, formed over the sculpted shape rather than cast, so the triangles of the yantra stay true and every coin keeps its edge. The metal is bonded to the surface, not painted or plated, so it will not chip or rub off. Raised antique gold against a blackened ground, which is what lets the yantra read from across a room.

Dimensions and weights are approximate. Each piece is made and finished by hand, so small variations are normal.

Choosing a size

Large: a mandir or pooja shelf, an entryway console, the back of a pooja thali arrangement. The yantra reads from across a room at this size.

Small: a desk at work, a locker top, a shop shelf. Close enough that the triangles are read rather than simply recognised.

Both sizes take the same 38 mm tea light, so the flame is identical. On the large it is one element below the kalash; on the small it sits nearer the centre of the piece, closer to the way a diya reads. On Diwali night either one goes out with the diyas.

Gifting

A Dhanteras and Diwali gift that stays out the rest of the year. The Shree Yantra is what people install for a new house or a new venture, so it suits a griha pravesh and a shop or office opening.

Care

Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth. Do not immerse in water. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
