The Stone

Iron-rich hematite agate, cut as a faceted rectangular block rather than a flat slice. The ground is a very dark green-black, and in raking light it breaks up into flecks of rust and maroon scattered through the body of the stone. The bevelled top face catches light where the sides stay matte, which is what gives the knob its depth against a pale cabinet front.

Craftsmanship

Each stone is set into an electroformed metal bezel that follows the cut edge. Electroforming grows real metal directly onto the stone rather than laying foil or gilt over it, so the border stays bonded to the piece and will not lift at the corners. The centre stud and fixings are solid brass. Available in gold, silver and rose gold.
