The Stone

A single slice of natural agate in warm amber and honey yellow, with a crystalline pocket near the top and rust flecks scattered through the lower half. Lit from behind it reads closer to candlelight than to a lamp, which is the point of it.

The Design

The slice stands upright on a small metal base. The cut edge is left raw and finished in electroformed metal, which runs along the top as an uneven crest and holds the stone without covering any of it. The cord and switch sit at the back, out of the sightline.
