The Om

An ogee arch with no roof on it, so the sky finishes the mandir. The Om sits at the centre of a lotus mandala, ringed by beadwork and petals, with lotus vines climbing the arch on both sides. Two lotus-capital pillars stand forward of the plate, and the tea light sits between them at the front of the oval base, so the flame lights the Om from below the way a diya lights a murti.

Craftsmanship

Real metal, formed over the sculpted shape rather than cast, so the mandala petals stay separate and the Om keeps its clean curve. The metal is bonded to the surface, not painted or plated, so it will not chip or rub off. Raised antique gold against a blackened ground, with the deepest relief on the Om itself.

Dimensions and weights are approximate. Each piece is made and finished by hand, so small variations are normal.

Choosing a size

Large: a meditation corner, an entryway console, a living room shelf where it can be read from across the room.

Small: a desk, a study, a bedside table, a mandir or pooja shelf.

Both sizes take the same 38 mm tea light, so the flame is identical. On the large it is one element within the arch; on the small it sits nearer the centre of the piece, closer to the way a diya reads. On Diwali night either one goes out with the diyas.

Gifting

The most universal piece in the range, since Om belongs to no single deity. A Diwali and Dhanteras gift that suits a griha pravesh, a new home and a yoga or wellness studio.

Care

Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth. Do not immerse in water. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
