The Kalash
A mangal kalash at the centre, lotus medallion on its belly, scrollwork around it, a crown of thirteen mango leaves at the mouth and a coconut seated in them. Two caparisoned elephants sit facing it with their trunks raised, the way they are carved at a temple door. The tea light sits at the front of the oval base, below the pot, so the flame catches the lotus first and the elephants read in silhouette either side.
Craftsmanship
Real metal, formed over the sculpted shape rather than cast, so the jhool pattern on each elephant and the veining on every leaf stay sharp. The metal is bonded to the surface, not painted or plated, so it will not chip or rub off. Raised antique gold against a blackened ground.

Dimensions and weights are approximate. Each piece is made and finished by hand, so small variations are normal.
Choosing a size
Large: an entryway console, the centre of a festive table, a shop counter.
Small: a mandir or pooja shelf, a study, a narrow ledge where the large would overhang.
Both sizes take the same 38 mm tea light, so the flame is identical. On the large it is one element between the elephants; on the small it sits nearer the centre of the piece, closer to the way a diya reads. On Diwali night either one goes out with the diyas.
Gifting
The kalash is the first thing set down at any pooja and the elephants are the household sign of good fortune, which makes this the safe choice when you do not know the house. A Dhanteras and Diwali gift that suits a griha pravesh, a housewarming and a wedding.
Care
Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth. Do not immerse in water. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
