The Stone

The most dramatic of the collection. The surface of this lazy susan is assembled from individual black agate cross-sections, each one revealing its own concentric banding: charcoal, grey, cream, and white rings set against a deep, glossy black base. The individual slices range from small and tightly banded to larger pieces with more open patterns. The overall effect is dark and bold: a geological mosaic that reads as pure black from across the room, and reveals its detail up close.

Craftsmanship

Each agate cross-section is individually hand-cut and assembled into a circular mosaic. The pieces are fitted together closely and enclosed within a rim that is electroformed: real metal deposited directly onto the stone edge, forming a permanent border that follows the natural contour of the disc. The assembly is then mounted on a smooth rotating bearing. The construction allows the natural banding of each individual slice to remain visible in the finished piece.
