The Stone

Real amethyst has a quieter, more complex character than the vivid purple of gemstone photographs. This lazy susan is assembled from large irregular amethyst chunks, each one showing its natural face: muted purple, grey-lavender, and dusty violet, with warm rust and ochre undertones running through individual pieces where iron deposits have stained the crystal. Visible chevron banding within each chunk. The overall surface has a geological, raw quality: this is amethyst as it actually looks, not as it is imagined.

Craftsmanship

Each amethyst chunk is individually hand-cut and assembled into a circular mosaic. The pieces are fitted closely together and enclosed within a rim that is electroformed: real metal deposited directly onto the stone edge, forming a permanent border that follows the natural contour of the disc. The assembly is then mounted on a smooth rotating bearing. The natural cleavage faces of the amethyst are left visible, giving the surface its characteristic complex texture.
