The Amethyst

Chunkier than the agates and deeper in tone, amethyst is the stone that gives this chalice its weight on the table. It runs rich purple through to paler lilac, with individual crystal faces standing proud across the band rather than sitting flat. The stone is associated with calm and clarity. Each chip is natural, which means no two chalices are exactly alike.

Craftsmanship

Each piece is made by hand. Genuine amethyst chips are set one at a time around the lower half of a ribbed glass cup, and a second bed of chips is packed across the foot. Real metal is then built up over both through an electroforming process, forming a thick, solid layer that locks every chip in place and rises above the stone in tall, flame-like points that reach up over the clear glass. Between the two bands sits a small faceted glass knop, left clear. Unlike paint or thin plating, this is solid deposited metal: it will not rub off, chip, or peel. The outermost layer is applied in your finish of choice: gold, silver, or rose gold.
