The Red Agate

Red agate at its most autumnal: burnt orange and carnelian chips shading into rust and honey amber, with a few deeper red-brown pieces scattered through the band. The stone is associated with strength and vitality, and because no two chips are identical the pattern comes out differently on every glass.

Craftsmanship

Each piece is made by hand. Genuine red agate chips are applied one at a time around the lower half of the bowl, wrapping the glass in a broad band that narrows to a point where the bowl draws down into the stem. Real metal is then built up over the stone through an electroforming process, forming a thick, solid layer that locks each chip in place and finishes along the top edge in broad, leaf-like metal shapes that climb over the clear glass. The stem and foot are left as bare clear glass. Unlike paint or thin plating, this is solid deposited metal: it will not rub off, chip, or peel. The outermost layer is applied in your finish of choice: gold, silver, or rose gold.
