The Arch

A jharokha lifted off a Jaipur haveli and hung beside your door. Two peacocks face each other at the crown with a rosette between them, their tails sweeping down into the scrollwork that fills the arch. Slender pillars carry lotus capitals and a run of flowers down each shaft. At the foot sits a stepped plinth of cut blocks, the way a real threshold is built. Your name goes in the open field where the window would be.

It is the doorway of a house, made small enough to hang on one.

Craftsmanship

Real metal, formed over the sculpted shape rather than cast, so each peacock keeps its feather work and the scrollwork stays open instead of filling in. Raised gold, buffed back by hand, against a blackened ground: the same contrast that makes carved sandstone read at a distance.

Placement

Choose a position where the lettering is easy to read. For a fully exposed gate, coastal site or an unusual mounting surface, contact us with a photograph before ordering so we can confirm suitability.

Personalisation

Three lines are yours: the house name across two lines, and the house or flat number beneath it. Written in any language: English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali. Long names are welcome; the lettering is set to fit your name rather than your name cut to fit the plate. Send the spelling exactly as you want it and a design preview comes back by email for you to check.

Mounting

Choose your mounting style on this product page before adding the plate to your cart.

• Peel-off tape: three sealed strips across the back, no drilling at all. Best on a tiled or granite surface, or anywhere you would rather not make holes.
• Keyhole slots: two screws in the wall and the plate lifts on and off. Simplest permanent fix, easiest to level.
• Floating stud mount: four threaded studs on reinforced bosses, set into the wall so the plate stands a few millimetres clear. Throws a shadow line under the arch and no fixing ever shows.

Where it works

The main door of a flat, a gate pillar, the boundary wall of a bungalow, a farmhouse entrance, the lobby of a society. It sits especially well against lime plaster, sandstone or a carved wooden door, anywhere the arch has something to echo.

Care

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. No metal polish or scouring, the dark ground is meant to stay dark. For outdoor placement, confirm care and installation requirements with us.
