The Stone

A stone of strong contrasts. The stone combines raw, dark charcoal-black druzy crystal with translucent steel-blue agate: two entirely different materials in strong contrast, with the boundary between them natural and abrupt. The dark interior is rough and unpolished; the blue band glassy and smooth. The landscape-oriented slab is edged all around in electroformed metal.

Craftsmanship

The stone is hand-cut into a large slab format, slicing through both the outer agate and the druzy interior to reveal this cross-section. The edge is electroformed: real metal electrically deposited directly onto the stone. Not paint, gilding, or gold leaf. Actual metal bonded to stone.

A bold, graphic gift. The contrast between the black and the blue banding is unusually sharp. Works well for housewarmings, Diwali, birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries. One of the more architecturally striking pieces in the collection.
